Hi,

I am trying to get more traffic to my site (who isn't?) so i'll post this in a couple communities

http://iwishihadapenguinfriend.com

it's all comics that i've drawn and I've recently put them together into a book to sell.

Trades are ok, too

thanks so much!

Lullaby theme [29 Oct 2005|07:54pm]

whispfeath
I may be biased, but I think my favorite movie theme is Mia Farrow's lullaby for the opening and closing of Rosemary's Baby. Innocent and eerie at the same time.

Now, I heard that that the "lullaby" was Beethovan's Fur Elise, but I personally don't catch the resemblance. Are my ears off?

Polanski's Oliver Twist set for 9/30 release [21 Jul 2005|01:14pm]

Click the picture for a short trailer in French. QT required.

The Official US Sony site is a little content poor at this point.
The French Site has a little more content but it's all Flash, so it's tough to link straight to the interesting parts.

Fearless Vampire Killers Trailer [15 Jul 2005|04:25pm]

Turner Classic Movies is showing Fearless Vampire Killers Monday night.  Unfortunately, I don't get TCM, I only have AMC, which rarely shows old movies any more.  There's also a Sharon Tate featurette.

Hello [18 Apr 2005|10:40pm]

whispfeath
Hello. This is my first post. I've noticed this community is pretty quiet, so I though I'd just jump in. I live in Utah, and I fell in love with Roman as a director after seeing Rosemary's Baby. The ability to create such a spooky and spine-tingling movie without all the blood and guts of too many of today's horror flicks is just amazing to me. Then later to have the ability to direct such a lovely film as Tess really shows his range. I still have to see the Pianist, though. I haven't really liked any of Roman's films since Tess, but I know the Pianist is a must see. I prefer earlier Polanski films, including Repulsion (Catherine Deneuve is fabulous) and Fearless Vampire Killers.

While I don't agree with things he's done in his personal life, he is an amazing filmmaker. I read his autobiography, and he lived through some heartbreaking times. Quite frankly, I think he had an amazing early life and he doesn't whine about how bad his life was like so many other celebrities do (totally unrelated pet peeve--particularly fueled by the fact that many of them haven't had any worse a life than us "regular" people).

Well, I'm a bit tired, so I hope I'm not rambling too much, but I felt it was time to say hi and remark on a very gifted filmmaker.

**edit--I forgot to mention that I had the priviledge of seeing Fearless Vampire Killers on the big screen back in '89. I was so excited!

Reason You Like Roman: His movies are brilliant and he's a great actor/director!!

Recently I saw "Una Pura Formalita" starring Gerard Depardieu + Roman. It's really a good one, and I'm gonna start collecting Roman's actor works as well as his director works. Is "Pirates" available on DVD yet?? Also "Why?"?? I got the 4-disc Roman Polanski Collection DVD boxset from UK R2 which includes "Knife in the Water", "Cul-de-Sac", "Repulsion" + his early 8 shorts, and now am looking for any way to complete my Roman DVD collection.

Really looking forward to making new friends here since around me a lot of ppl don't care for Polanski movies; they all think he's a bit of a weird wacko. -_-;;;

That's about it for now!! :)

Polanski DVDs [26 Aug 2004|11:49pm]

anuisance2you
It looks like a couple Polanski films will soon be making their way to DVD

Tess (Due 9/28/2004)

And

The Fearless Vampire Killers (Due 10/5/2004)

With three releases last year (Tenant, Bitter Moon and the Criterion Knife in the Water (Ok, 4 if you count the Pianist, but that was a new movie, not a catalog release, so I don't count it)) we are approaching a pretty full Polanski catalog in the digital format. Some notable exceptions include Repulsion, Cul-de-sac, and most of the Polish catalog. Has anyone ever seen Pirates? Are we missing anything by not seeing that on DVD?

I've just recently seen The Fearless Vampire Killers...Thoughts insideCollapse )

Your name: Erica
Location: Pennsylvania, USA
Favorite Polanski Film: Rosemary's Baby

Reason You Like Roman: Just recently I have been fascinated with him.  I have been watching the special features in Rosemary's Baby dvd and he has such a wonderful perspective on filming.  I love the way he likes to have the actors lead and film that way, instead of making the actors move toward his storyboard or ideas.  He likes to watch things evolve.  His sense of humour and the way he observes people, the way he thinks.  I have been trying to get a hold of more of his movies to really delve deeper... Suggestions and thoughts welcome....
